The second international symposium on Project Management, organised by the Panama PMI chapter took place from 10th to 12th March at the Panama Canal Authority premises. Professionals from 9 countries of the region (Colombia, Costa Rica, USA, Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, Paraguay and Venezuela); and the College of Performance Management of the PMI were also present.

The IDEA International Institute’s director for Latin America and Caribbean, Mr. Juan Abreu made a presentation on « Project Management of Result-oriented Public Investment», a topic in the news given the ongoing capacity building efforts in the subject in most of the regional countries and the challenges that they will have to face. In addition, the Institute was part of the funding organisers thus took opportunity to present its services.

During the event, a big number of participants demonstrated interest in the Institute’s Certification in Project Management jointly organised by University Laval and IDEA International and held in Panama. Negotiations were initiated with the Panama Canal Authority and the Government Authority for Innovation for the participation of some of their staff to the Certification programme of 2010.
